Yesterday two court cases took place, the first being that of the Police and prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) versus the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) over the inhabitable conditions at the DCS head offices at the Poytons building in Pretoria, and the second being that of the 8 police officers arrested last week Friday by the IPID over the death of an individual in an altercation that took place last year.
On the first court case, the matter was postponed to Friday, 12 October 2018, where the Labour court in Braamfontein will be delivering judgement in this regard.
On the second matter relating to the arrest of the 8 police officers, they all received bail yesterday at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s court, and their next court appearance will be taking place on Tuesday, 13th of November 2018. Their matter will be heard at a High court which is to be confirmed in due course.
