The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) congratulates the newly appointed Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Mark Dumisa Magadlela as announced by National Police Commissioner General Riah Phiyega yesterday. Magadlela joined the South African Police Service (SAPS) in 1981 and his career has risen since. He served in various ranks including his most recent position as Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection in Eastern Cape where he demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to the service.

Magadlela holds extensive experience as a policeman and an investigator hence General Phiyega showed no hesitation in appointing him. The union acknowledges his appointment and commits to supporting him in the fight against crime and transforming the provincial’s policing system. We hope that he will hit the ground running in addressing challenges faced by our members and thereby hindering effective service delivery.

We thank the SAPS national office for appointing passionate people like Magadlela whose primary focus will be improving the service as he has demonstrated in the past three decades. POPCRU believes he is the right man for the job. We wish him the best of luck and look forward to creating a working relationship with in the Mpumalanga province.
