The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) joins million others confirming its solid support for the people of Palestine. We stand in solidarity with the Palestinians and fully pledge to create awareness to the broader society about the nature of Israel apartheid policies to the people of Palestine. The oppression experienced by Palestinians is not too different from what we South Africans experienced during the apartheid regime hence we fully back the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

As we commemorate the Solidarity Day on Friday, we seek to educate one another about the harsh realities experienced by the Palestinians. It is surprising that in the 21st century the people of Palestine are still denied the rights to national independence and sovereignty and the right to return to their homes and property from which that had been displaced.

Movements such as the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) has campaigned against Israel holding a string of events calling for boycotts of Israel products and companies around the globe in which South Africa has participated. POPCRU calls for all nations to come together to fight for the liberation of Palestine as it has been with other countries which were once colonised. Palestine must get its independence.

As we observe Solidarity Day we further urge fellow citizens to boycott Israel products and companies until there is peace between Israel and Palestine. We cannot continue to support a country that is responsible for the countless deaths and capture of innocent souls. POPCRU also strongly condemns retailers who still purchase products from these ruthless people.
