The Police, Prisons and Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) is currently holding its 8th National Congress under the theme “Transforming the Criminal Justice Cluster in defence of the working Class struggle for the advancement of the National Democratic Revolution.” Congress is taking place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli ICC, Durban.

The 8th National Congress started this morning at 09h00, with over 1500 delegates from the Police sector, Correctional Services sector and the Traffic sector representing our membership of over 153 000.

Congress is currently being addressed by the Minister of Transport, Dipuo Peters and will later be addressed by the South African Communist Party (SACP) General Secretaty, Comrade Blade Nzimande.

The elections of National Office Bearers will be taking place from 18h00 tonight.

COSATU President, Comrade Sidumo Dlamini to address tomorrow morning.
