POPCRU concludes successful research in Namibia

In keeping with our resolution to strengthen unions in the SADC region through our Research and the International Units POPCRU has undertaken and concluded a detailed study into the working conditions of Police and Correctional Officers in Namibia. In part, this is to enhance our own understanding of the situation so we can interact in an informed manner. But most importantly, POPCRU believes that the challenge of safety and security stability within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is critical towards the realisation of sustainable development and subsequent better life for the citizenry. Hence it is undisputable that employees within the security cluster play a pivotal role in maintaining law and order as prescribed by several countries’ legislations. However, various studies continue to reveal that employees within this cluster continue to experience unfavourable working conditions as compared to other civil servants.
