Update on the Salary Negotiations, Conditions of Service and Benefits for the Financial Year 2011/2012

POPCRU has noted the snail-paced response by the Department of Public Service and Administration [DPSA] in relation to the salary negotiations, conditions of service and benefits for the financial year 2011/2012.

On the 15th February 2011 Consolidated Demands were tabled by Labour which included, amongst others,the cost of living adjustment [salary increase] and other benefits. The employer responded by saying shallowly that that they will come back to us as Labour on or before the 25th February 2011.

It is important to note that issues that are tabled at the bargaining tables are transverse in nature, which means that they cut across all Government Sectors, hence all other matters that are sectoral in nature will be tabled at respective Bargaining Councils in due course.

Other demand to be tabled relates to a review of the Promotional Policy foe employees under the Public Service Act, Police Act and Correctional Services Act.

DPSA has not honoured their undertaking to come back as earlier promised and therefore there is no response at this stage.
